What's wrong with this picture? Nothing.

There's nothing wrong with this picture. Certainly it's been said many times, "never judge a book by it's cover". It's important that we reserve judgement until review. Our simpler minds would look at this cover of THE NEW YORKER and possibly be offended, but I'm certain that whomever decided to run this has a point that they're trying to make. It's always important in life that we review the details and make our own decisions. We have a tendency to let the analysis of so called experts stand in for our individual abilities to process and decide. How many people will actually read the article?

This cover has been bashed as tasteless and I'd really like for anyone who thinks so to tell me why.

Zen, you're absolutely right. This is one of those times where I think people have convinced themselves that they need to be outraged without really figuring out why.

I also think Obama supporters - I suppose i'm in the lukewarm camp here - should grow a thick skin for the road ahead. Certainly this is not the nastiest stuff Barack will face en route to the White House.

I can see where the cover might be satire, though it was poorly executed. That said, New Yorker had a hell of a publicity blitz to kick off the week. I imagine those copies were flying off shelves Monday.

The article is actually one of the most revealing I've read about the political person, Barack Obama.
